Camp Leaders

Camp Leaders

We are always looking for more camp leader volunteers to be a part of Breakaway. The program simply couldn’t exist without the volunteers who commit to be part of the camps that we take our young people on.

To be a camp leader volunteer for our camps, we look for people who are able to commit to joining a group and going on an overnight camp each month with that group.  We look for people who are interested and have a passion for making a difference in the lives of young people, and are willing to come along side the campers to encourage them, support them, and help them on their life journey.  You do not need to have a skill set in outdoor activities, just simply be willing to learn and get involved.  Continual training and feedback is given to all leaders to teach new skills, help keep them all on the same page, and to keep them informed and up to date with all expectations and policies that we have at Breakaway Youth.

If you aren’t able to commit to coming on a camp every month, we also have an option to be a “fill in” leader with a commitment of coming on 3 camps a year. We also have a few special camps throughout the year in which we need several helpers to come along as cooks.

Please contact us if you are interested in knowing more about becoming a camp leader volunteer, or download the Camp Leader Application Form by clicking here.

Office Support

Office Support

If you are interested in helping out at Breakaway in ways other than attending camps, there are lots of ways to do that. We always have work to be done at our office in Preston, both administrative and manual work.  We also look for helpers for different family and fundraising events throughout the year.

If you are interested in giving your time as a office support volunteer, please contact us or download the Office Support Volunteer Application Form by clicking here.

Maintenance & Site Development

Maintenance & Site Development

We run several working bee weekends up at our Glendale camp property throughout the year.  We are always looking for people willing to come up for the day or weekend to help with on-going projects and manual work around the property.

If you’d like to help out on our next working bee, or want to know more about volunteering doing maintenance or site development please contact us or download the Maintenance & Site Development Volunteer Application Form by clicking here

Skill Volunteering

Skill Volunteering

If you have a skill set (i.e. sport, outdoor activities, trades, adventure programs, etc) that you’d like to use as a volunteer with Breakaway Youth, we’d be interested in hearing from you.

We are always looking for new things to do with our campers on the camps and new skills to teach them, so if you have a skill set that you would work with a group of young people, please get in contact us.

You can be a part of our Annual Fundraising Auction through donating goods or services that can be auctioned off. We pride ourselves in offering a large variety of items with our selection in past years including everything from four laying hens to a day sailing on the bay.

Donated items have sold generously and unbelievably well in all our past auctions, with a romantic weekend away fetching $750.00 and a meat tray raising over $1600.00! We’ve had a 10kg block of Chocolate bringing in $830.00, to then be generously donated back to Breakaway so it could be shared among the young people of Breakaway themselves.
